June 21, 2011

My trip to Chicago may have ended a few weeks ago, but I’ve been procrastinating from uploading my hundreds of pictures and reflecting on the amazing memories. I’ve also been feeling blase about blogging in general, and wondering if there really is any benefit to recording life’s daily adventures just to get my mom’s stellar commentary (I get it Ma, you love me) but hopefully this is just a phase of passive tech angst and I’ll charge full force ahead regardless in order to have something to look back on in the future for if nothing else, to laugh at my outdated hairstyles and outfits.

So for now, on with the show…

My kind of town, Chicago is…

Cornell U. Class of 1931 to Meet for 80th Reunion

June 9, 2011

ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) — Cornell University in New York is holding its first 80th class reunion, and two members of the class of 1931 will be there to celebrate.

There are still 30 living members, and they’re 102 years old.

Rosemary Hunt Todd of Hollis, N.H., will be on hand Thursday evening to present a spirit banner for Cornell’s newest alumni class that’s reuniting, the class of 2006. The university says Ruth Laible Tallmadge of Rochester, N.Y., planned to be with Todd, but is now expected to arrive for festivities Friday.

Another member of the class of 1931, Bill Vanneman, had written to his classmates and encouraged them to return for the reunion set for Thursday night. He had planned to attend, but he died April 26th.

Vanneman had been class president.

Have a Wicked Wednesday.

So if you care to find me
Look to the western sky,
As someone told me lately:
“Everyone deserves the chance to fly”
And if I’m flying solo
At least I’m flying free
To those who’d ground me
Take a message back from me
Tell them how I am
Defying gravity
I’m flying high
Defying gravity
And soon I’ll match them in renown
And nobody in all of Oz
No Wizard that there is or was
Is ever gonna bring me down
